Add the Pause shortcut to Settings

F

Please let us change (or disable) the Pause shortcut.
I pause Paste by mistake quite often since it’s the same shortcut to open a new tab in multiple apps.
Thank you!

This is not just an improvement proposal, but a necessary and urgent fix to address a poorly implemented feature! I just discovered that the app has been paused for two days! I want to scream at the top of my lungs! :(((

@Paste Team, could you please disable this feature or implement it properly? At least disable the shortcut until the functionality is complete.

I just learned that I’d had been accidentally pausing Paste also! Once for a couple days. Gutted! Please let us reassign or disable pause. I will never need it – I just quit the app if I don’t want Paste running.

I’ve noticed that there’s a popup display to signal that Pause/Resume has been triggered, but clearly I have still have missed this a few times.

This issue is super frustrating. I just spent an hour trying to set up a macro in Keyboard Maestro to solve this, but it’s tricky because of Paste’s special sort of window, plus the issue can happen even when the window isn’t visible. I guess Tahoe will provide a partial backup solution with it’s clipboard history, but it would be very much appreciated if the developer(s) could address this!

(By the way, the MacOS tag should be added to this feature request.)

I haven’t checked out the new macOS yet, but Apple tends to implement pending features pretty poorly. Just look at the Password Manager they added in the last update, it was disappointing.

As for that annoying shortcut, my solution was to switch apps…

As anticipated, Tahoe’s clipboard history does help mitigate the issue, but it’s disappointing that something so basic still hasn’t been addressed in Paste. The developers created a “feature” (the keyboard shortcut) that disables the app’s core functionality, and after years, they still haven’t made it possible to turn off this “feature.” Moreover, the shortcut is a very common one, making accidental triggering likely.

Given the lack of progress on this issue, while I still like Paste, I’m curious: what did you switch to, @E. Bicalho ?

(Note: If the developers would be so kind as to acknowledge this issue, I’d be happy to refrain from discussing competing products.)

For context, it should be noted that the issue started a few years ago in response to a feature request for a keyboard shortcut: https://pasteapp.nolt.io/116

Also, there is a duplicate feature request started more recently here:

And another duplicate:

@Kopa Otao They’ll probably take this thread down if anyone mentions competitors here. That being said, you should take a look at the MacApps community on Reddit. They have a spreadsheet comparing dozens of clipboard managers so it’s definitely worth a look…
